FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Disclaimer: This information is based on Dr. Simeon’s Protocol and his book, ‘Pounds & Inches’. It is designed as a summary, and you are encouraged to read the complete book. Anyone utilizing the HCG Protocol does so at his/her own risk. Should you have health concerns, please consult your physician.

Q. Is it safe to use HCG?
A. Yes. HCG Diet Drops are safe and natural. HCG  been approved by the FDA for other medical purposes. HCG is safe for both men and women.

Q. Do I need to see my doctor before starting the HCG diet plan?
A. You may if you feel the need. Diabetes patients need to keep a close eye on blood sugar levels, and may need a bit more food than what is outlined in the diet.

Q. What is HCG and how does it work?
A. HCG is a naturally occurring substance that is produced in pregnant women. It is used in the medical field to treat an assortment of medical conditions. During pregnancy, the levels of HCG double every two days. This substance allows the body to mobilize fat, and use it as energy, for both the mother and the growing fetus. This acts as a ‘fail-safe’ device when energy is needed immediately. Dr. Simeon discovered that small doses of HCG would enable dieters to subsist comfortably on a 500-calorie-per-day diet. He claimed that HCG would mobilize stored fat, suppress appetite and redistribute fat. At the same time, it is believed to protect your body’s good fat and muscle.

HCG helps break down and mobilize ‘abnormal fat’ cells, so they can be used by your body for energy and appetite suppression during the low calorie diet. These fat stores are pocketed in those hard-to-reach places around the hips, thighs, belly, and upper arms, and inside the knees. This allows your ‘structural fat’ – the fat that is critical for muscles and organs – to be protected. This enables you to end up with a firmer, reshaped body, than what you may have been previously left with on other diet programs.

Q. Is HCG safe for Men and Women?
A. Yes. Check with you doctor if you have any concerns. If you are a woman and your BMI is lower than 20, it is not recommended for use. Don’t use if you are pregnant or nursing.

Q. How does the HCG drops compare with the injections?
A. Similar results are reported, many people prefer drops to the injections due to getting the same or better results with less cost and inconvenience.

Q. Will the low calorie diet slow down my metabolism?
A. No. When a low calorie diet is combined with HCG it signals the body to access and use the stored, unwanted fat for energy. This eliminates excess fat reserves, so there are no bad effects on your metabolism. The fat is used as fuel, and causes a person’s appetite to decrease.

Q. Wouldn’t I lose weight on a low calorie diet without the HCG?
A. You would lose weight, but you will tend to lose mostly muscle before fat. When the body is deprived, it stores fat. This causes metabolisms to slow down, which makes it easier to gain the weight back. It also decreases muscle mass. With HCG, excess fat is mobilized for energy, and the rest is eliminated. The low calorie diet prevents the refilling of the empty fat cells, and preserves muscle. A 500 calorie diet on its own does not work. The HCG diet drops do not work on their own. But if you combine the 500 calorie diet with the HCG diet drops – you get excellent results.

Q. Will I starve on the low calorie diet?
A. HCG liquefies fat, which is then made available to the body to use as energy. Even though you are eating few calories, the body is able to access the energy that is in the fat cells, and that decreases the appetite. Most people have plenty of energy while on the program.

Q. How much weight can I expect to lose on the HCG program?
A. The average is 1/2 to 2 pounds per day. You are losing inches as well as pounds. You may not lose every day while your body adjusts. Stick to the plan and you will have success.

Q. Is it hard to keep the weight off when I am off the HCG diet?
A. Research shows that 75 – 85% of people who successfully complete the HCG diet have little difficulty maintaining their new weight. It is believed that HCG helps balance and retrain the hypothalamus, and modifies how fat is metabolized, making it possible to maintain a steady weight.  However, if you go back to the eating habits that caused you to be overweight to begin with, of course you will gain weight – it only makes sense.

Q. How do I store the HCG drops?
A. Keep HCG away from heat and light and the microwave. You may store it in the refrigerator, if it is not to be used for a few weeks.

Q. Where is the HCG manufactured?
A. It is manufactured with the highest standards in the USA. Drops have a 3 to 5-year shelf life. This formula is proven effective.

Q. Will HCG interfere with prescribed medications?
A. It will not affect birth control. Consult your doctor before taking HCG, if you are on medication. The only medications known to possibly interfere with HCG effectiveness are diuretics and steroids.

Q. How to I take the drops?
A. HCG Diet Drops are NEVER to be injected. Place the drops under the tongue, hold for at least two minutes, and then swallow. Drops come ready-to-use and require no mixing.
